Crazy Nieces!

This past Friday I had the great privilege of having my two adorable nieces over for the night. My nieces are four and two and they are the cutest things ever but they can be a handful at times too. Our night consisted of watching about four minutes of Pocahontas, a couple episodes of Caillou, Wonder Pets, and Olivia. We also played on the Wii. My oldest niece MaKenzi loves playing the bowling game so we played a few games with her. They also decided that they really like the Just Dance 2 game for the Wii because MaKenzi's favorite song, "Tik Tok" by Ke$ha is on there. A four year old who likes Ke$ha? I know, it is crazy but she can just about sing every word to that song. Not to mention that MaKenzi and Kelsi both love to dance. I swear they are going to be cheerleaders or on the dance team when they get older. It is so freaking adorable to watch them though.
So after a long night of games and TV, I made a delicious dessert for us all to eat. Cinnamon apples with vanilla bean ice cream. Oooh! That is a good recipe for me to put up! I will do that soon. So after dessert we went to bed. Of course I had to tell them a couple of stories before they would go to sleep. They only like to hear stories about princesses right now because they are in that stage where they love princesses and dress up so I told them very short versions of Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, and what I could remember of Sleeping Beauty. They slowly fell asleep after that. I would like to think that it was my amazing story telling skills. Haha! Overall, I had such a great night with my two favorite girls in the world. I love spending time with them and they can always put a smile on my face. The things that they say sometimes are so freaking cute that you can't help but want to laugh. With everything that is going on in my life right now, it is the little things like spending time with my nieces that makes everything easier to get through. I thought sharing this fun night with you might bring a smile to your face and make something in your day that much easier as well.

Spending Time With My Sister

I have to say thank you to Guinn and Bare It. She helped me with my entire list of things that I wanted. They were all really simple too so I feel kinda stupid for even needing to ask for help with them. Haha!

The other night I went to my little sisters basketball game. It is her senior year of high school and I had yet to see her play so I decided I should probably go. She has been playing basketball for as long as I can remember, so you can imagine that she is really, really good. Well it ended up being a great night to go because a lot of people that I care a lot about were there that night and I got to catch up with them. One of them was my high school cheer coach. She is one of the coolest people I know. She has taught me so much and has always been there for me even after I went to College. She is the reason that I know want to become a cheerleading coach myself. I guess that is one benefit of going to a small school because the coaches and teachers really care about the students and take the time to get to know you. Another person I saw that night was my history/spanish/geography/civics/track coach. Haha! Like I said, it was a small school! This particular teacher has always been such a wonderful and caring person towards my entire family. I am glad that my family has had the opportunity to have this teacher because he has always been a great person to seek advice from and  someone who would just listen when you needed someone too. So thank you two these two individuals. You have really made a huge impact in my life.

Unfortunately my sisters team did but lose, but I did get to see my sister for a little bit after her game which was kind of nice. The only downside to this was that she smelled horribly! Haha! I had to tell her to put some deodorant on because she smelled so bad after her game. Love you sis! Haha! Spending time with my little sister like this really has made me realize how much I am going to miss her next year when she goes to College. I can't believe how much she has grown up and how close we have become just in the last four and a half years. The funny thing is that we didn't even really become close until I left for College myself. We actually hated each other growing up. A lot of that had to do with the age gap between us. We are six years apart so we were never at the same maturity level. I know she isn't reading this because she never has time to get on computers, but I just want her to know that I love her very much and I am very proud of her for everything that she has been able to accomplish. I love you so much sis and I am very excited for the new adventure that you will be embarking on coming this fall.

Slowly Learning

So I have finally figured out a few things as far as my layout goes. There are still quite a few things that I would like to do with it, but I am still trying to figure them out. It may take me a while so please be patient with me because I will probably be changing things a lot. If you guys ever have any suggestions for me to make it look a lot better please let me know. Here are a few things that I still would like to add to the layout;

  • Hit-counter
  • Music player
  • Working page tabs (allowing you and others to navigate to an about me page for example)
So if you know how to do any of these, please do tell!! On to other things, I am guest blogging for Guinn and Bare It while her hubby is home on leave. I'm really excited  about it actually. I am also very excited for her because she is going to be the happiest girl in the world for two weeks and I hope that she gets to enjoy every single moment of the time that he is here. Ooooh! I almost forgot to say something. I scheduled an appointment today to go and try on wedding dresses at a Mori Lee trunk show in March. I am really excited. This is the part about planning a wedding that I have been the most excited about so hopefully it will be a good experience. Yay! Well until next time!

Wedding Frustration!!!!

Hello to everyone out there! Sorry that it has been a few days since my last post. Weekends are always the busiest part of my week. I am currently in the process of becoming Catholic so I am attending Sunday mass and then a RCIA(Right of Christian Initiation of Adults) class after mass so my fiance and I go up to his parents house on Saturday nights so that we don't have to get up so early on Sundays so, to get to my point across we are very busy on the weekends.

Anyways, Aran and I are in the process of planning our wedding and can I just say agggghhhhhh!!! There is so much to do and so much to think about. I am ready to pull my hair out and we have only just begun the planning. We are trying to have an inexpensive wedding, but I am coming to realize that there is no such thing. We still have a little under a year but it seems like there is so much to do but we can't do anything until this summer. And if you know me, I am a planning person. I have to have everything planned in advance for me to not be stressing out. Well not being able to plan anything is driving me crazy. And not to mention all of the decisions that have to be made. Something new comes up every time we talk about it. I just wish that this whole process was easier, but I don't think that is a possibility. Luckily, I have an amazing family, an amazing almost family and some awesome friends who are helping me through all of it. Not to mention my wonderful fiance. Thank you in advance to all of you for all of your help. Without you I would be lost. Until next time!!

Under Construction!!

Caution! This blog is now under construction. I am currently trying to learn the ins and outs of the design aspect of the blog, so bare with me please! It may be a mess for a while and possibly changing constantly until I can decide I like something long enough to leave it up. Haha! Thanks!

Living on Dreams of Butterflies

Welcome to Living on Dreams of Butterflies! This is a new thing for me so if I am horrible at it, lie to me please! Lol! I am not very good with all of this so if you ever have any helpful or insightful suggestions for me, please feel free to comment. So, where do I begin? First of all, my name is Megan and I am 23 years old. I just recently graduated from college in May of 2010 and am now a full fledged adult who pays bills and everything! Yay me! I am engaged to an amazing and loving guy named Aran and we are in the process of planning our wedding. I have an amazing family and some of the best friends anyone could ask for. Enough about me for now.

Some of you might wonder where the name for my blog came from. Well, in a hopefully short version, butterflies are a very symbolic thing in my family. When my mom was pregnant with me, one of my aunt's daughters (my cousin) died of S.I.D.S. When they had the funeral for my cousin, a small yellow butterfly came and sat on her coffin and stayed through the entire funeral. When they went to lower her the butterfly flew off of the coffin and flew around my family. Many years later my aunt was getting married. My mom and I were standing outside the church along with everyone else waiting for my aunt and her new husband to come out and when she did walk out those doors that same little yellow butterfly was flying around again. Then in September of 2007 my grandpa passed away. Just as his urn was being placed in the wall a little orange butterfly flew right past the space where his urn was going and then flew by me and my grandma. My grandma and I knew that it was him right away. My grandma recently passed away in December and although we haven't had her service so that she can join my grandpa, I know that another butterfly will be showing up to let us know that she is okay. So as you can see, butterflies have a very special place in my family and especially with me because I have always been very close with my grandparents and they have always had big dreams for me. So, I am trying to live out the dreams that they had for me, hence the name Living on Dreams of Butterflies. I love you Grandma Shirley, Grandpa Don, and Grandma Linda. You guys are missed very much and will always be loved!

Thank you so much for listening to my story and for checking out my blog. I want to say thank you to my best friend Lacey for encouraging me to do this. I would be lost without her, just like Garth would be lost without Wayne!
