Bridesmaid Dresses

If any of you have ever gotten married, I am sure that you know how difficult picking out the Bridesmaid dress is. Not only do you have to think about what each girl would like but you have to think about if it will look good on everyone and is the price reasonable. And since I am getting married in a catholic church, we also have to make sure that there is some type of strap or sleeve on the dress as well.

I was originally going to have my fiance's mom make the bridesmaid dresses, so that we could cut down the cost of the dress for everyone and also this way we would know that they would fit. Well, we have started to stray away from that idea because we found a dress that we think may just work for everyone. Some of you may have seen this style of dress on My Fair Wedding with David Tutera if you are obsessed with that show like I am. The dress featured on his show is by Twobirds and it is more commonly called a twist wrap dress. Now if you haven't seen this dress and have no idea what I am talking about, let me just start by saying that this dress is amazing. You twist and wrap this dress into probably 15 to 20 different styles and this makes it figure flattering on almost everyone (so they say).

Considering that the dress from Twobirds is almost $300, I started looking into similar dresses that were made by different designers. There are quite a few on Etsy and they range from $80 to $300. The problem that we were running into is that a few of the girls in the wedding party actually want to try them on first, which to me is a big thing too. If you dont' feel good in something, then I wouldn't want to spend the money on it either.

Wanting to actually try them on, resulted in a google search to see if there were any other designers that made this type of dress that may be at a Bridal Shop. Lucky for us, there is! There is a company called The Dessy Group, that makes a dress very similar to the Twobirds dress. We proceeded to look at where they could be found, and much to our surprise and excitement, the small boutique that I am buying my wedding dress from carries this designer and this particular dress!

I am hoping that when I go to order my dress that all of my bridesmaids, except Veronica because she is in Alaska, will be able to join me and that way they can try the dress on. If they are not all able to try on this dress, The Dessy Group has this really cool thing that they do to help you out. For $35 they will loan you a dress in your size for you to try on at home to see if you like it. I think that is such a great idea and that more places should do things like this. So we may end up doing that as well. I am hoping that they all love this dress because it would make everything a whole lot easier for everyone I believe. Fingers crossed!

If you want to see what the dress looks like, go here.

Stupid Questions, Stupid Answers

I had to share this story with everyone because my co-worker and I were laughing so much that a few people actually came in to see what was going on, haha! So I was standing at the sink back in the kitchen at work. I was washing out my tupperware from lunch and you could clearly tell that I was washing it out. Well this lady that works with my company walks back and looks at me and says in a really annoying voice, "So, are you washing your dishes?" Being the nice person that I am, I said yes and went about my business, but my head was screaming something more along the lines of "Nope! Just filling up my water bowl! Here's your sign!" I told my co-worker when I got back to my desk about what my head was really thinking when she asked me that and she started laughing so hard that neither of us could barely contain it. And this person that asked me this tends to get on our nerves, so I just had to share it with her. I hope this makes you smile and brightens up your day like it did for me. Happy Wednesday!

A Wee Bit of Me Wednesday

I have seen a few people do this on Wednesday's and I loved the questions this week, so I decided to join in. Also because I have been at a loss for what to write recently. Here goes;

{one} if you won a trip to Disneyland/world, who would you take with you?
I would take Aran and funny enough that is actually where we have decided to go for our honeymoon. I have never been but he has so I can't wait for that!

{two} when was the last time you listened to a CD?
The other day and it was Glee the Music: Volume 5. I only listen to CD's in my car or at work. Usually I listen to my iPod.

{three} what spice/seasoning is your favorite?
Umm....good question. I have never really thought about it before. Salt, haha! I am still learning how to really cook with real things so I don't really have an answer for this one.

{four} if you were in a band, what kind of music would you play?
Country or pop.

{five} if you could have personally witnessed one historical event, which one would it be?
This one is tough because most historical events are horrible things so it is hard to think of one that would be cool to see. I think though that I would love to go back to the day when Princess Diana was married to Prince Charles and to be there at that church while they were getting married would be one of the coolest things to see.

{six} if you could go back to school, what would you study?
Honestly, probably more accounting. Maybe more of the tax field.

{seven} if you could go to one sporting event, all expenses paid, which one would you see?
This is too easy, the Stanley Cup, but only if the Red Wings were in it.

{eight} do you drive an automatic or a manual?
I drive a stick(manual)...and I am not going to lie, I think it is pretty bad ass for a girl, haha!

{nine} are you comfortable speaking in front of people?
It really depends on the situation. I am usually pretty good at it. But depending on what I am supposed to be talking about is whether or not I am comfortable.

{ten} have you ever experienced an earthquake?
No, I live in Colorado so they aren't common, haha!

Rings n' Things

I hope that everyone had a fantastic weekend! Mine was pretty busy as I had explained it would be. Friday was filled with me and my sister going to store after store after store to find her a Prom dress. Thankfully we found one at the last store that she liked enough to buy. I also got two new tires for my car and an alignment and now my car feels amazing when I drive it. It doesn't shake at high speeds anymore, yay! But I did find out that I have a really bad oil leak, which I have known about, but no one in my family felt that it was very important to fix. Well, I guess it is really bad now so I am going to have to have my brother fix it soon or apparently I will lose my engine. So says my dad who tends to blow things up bigger than they really are, haha!

Aran and I also went to meet two more photographers and we looked at the venue where we are having our reception. We decided not to go with either of the photographers that we talked with this weekend, but we did decide to go with the ones that we met with two weekends ago. Yay for Yellow Paddle Photography being awesome and having amazing prices that we could afford. Our venue is amazing. I absolutely love it! They have the colors that we want for the linens on the tables and it is just beautiful. I am so excited. We also found out that they will waive the $1500 site fee if we have a minimum of 100 people that we buy dinners for. So we will be buying a 100 meals no matter what because we will be saving ourselves $1500. Definitely worth it! We were only wanting about 100 people to attend anyways so hopefully it works to be around that many guests.

It was a pretty busy weekend for us, but other than all of the running around that we did, it wasn't too bad. I finally got my ring back yesterday too. I was a very happy girl and I couldn't stop looking at it because they cleaned it and it was so sparkly. I kept looking at it and thinking to myself "Hello pretty!" Haha! I know, a little crazy, but if you have ever had to go without your ring for a week you probably understand how excited I was to have it back. We also picked out Aran's wedding band. I really wanted to get him one of those bands that doesn't scratch. They are made out of a metal called tungsten. Some stores will do a demonstration where they take a big metal file and run it over the rings and when they pull it away, there are absolutely no scratches. I have seen it and it is way cool. However, they do not make them below a size 8 and well Aran has really long skinny fingers, some people refer to them as surgeon fingers, but because he has such skinny fingers, we can't get him one of those. I was a little bummed. But we found a ring that is pretty similar that is pretty scratch resistant and that can be ordered in his size. It is called Brute Cobalt so it is a little bit stronger metal and it is pretty inexpensive as well.

Well, I should probably get back to work and be somewhat productive, haha! I hope that everyone had a pretty relaxing weekend and enjoyed their few days off.

Randomness of Things I Have Been Wanting to Mention

Okay so I have been a slacker and have been forgetting to post some things. My bad! So here goes. Get ready for a lot of pictures (there has to be a better way to do this!)

#1 Pictures of when the besty was here and we made cupcakes for her birthday at like midnight.

So they didn't have a 2 candle at the store
so we improvised by getting a 6 and a 3 so
that we could divide. 6/3=2

Fill In The Blank Friday

It is Friday and that means it is time for Fill In The Blank Friday over at The Little Things We Do. If you want to join in, just head on over to her blog and fill out the questions. Just make sure that you link up when you are done.

1. My most prized possession is  the ring that my Grandma gave me as a Graduation Gift. It was the ring that my Grandpa had bought her when they lived in the town that I was attending school. It has extra special meaning now that she has passed away.

2.  If I could be one age for the rest of my life, I would want to be  in my late 20's. I am not really sure as to why but I just know that I would NOT want to be a kid or be in High School the rest of my life. Four years of High School was already too much for me.

3.  The best way to spend a weekend is  by relaxing. Especially with how busy we have been lately. A long weekend full of nothing sounds amazing!

4.  My outlook on life is  as long as you are happy, then who cares. If what you are doing with your life is what makes you the happiest that you can be, then live it to the fullest.

5.  If you want to annoy me, just   do a lot of things, haha! It depends on the situation a lot of the times. One of my biggest things though is that I hate being talked to like I am a kid or something. I am the youngest person in my department and this one lady constantly talks to me like I am 3. The way she fluctuates her voice up and down, drives me insane.

6.  I am completely defenseless when it comes to  chocolate and chips and dip.
7.  When dressing for the day one should  put on something that makes them feel comfortable and amazing. If I feel horrible in something, I won't wear it. Put something on that makes you feel beautiful inside and out!

3 Day Weekend for Me!

Rachelle and I at my graduation last year
I have a three day weekend! I have a three day weekend! Not trying to rub it in or anything, haha. Okay, mabye a little! It is going to be another long
weekend though, so I feel as though I deserve the day off. First off tomorrow, my little sister Rachelle and I will be going to look for a Prom Dress for her. It is her Senior Year of High School so we have to find her a killer dress and hopefully for a killer price too. So we will be running around all over to try and find something that she loves. She is very picky like me so it should be an interesting shopping day. We will go to the usual places like Ross, TJ Max and Marshall's because you can sometimes find some great dresses there for a great price. If we don't find anything at any of those we may have to go to the bigger department stores, which means spending more money.

I am also taking my car in tomorrow to get my new tires put on and to have an alignment done. My poor car needs to be pampered! I may even decide to clean my car out and detail the inside of it and maybe even take it to the car wash, but I'm not going to get ahead of myself, haha! I get pretty lazy when it comes to that stuff.

On Saturday we have another busy day full of wedding planning. Yay! We have a meeting with one photographer at 11:00, then we have a meeting with the Event Manager of the venue we want at 12:30, and then at 2:00 we are meeting another photographer. The good thing about meeting with the two photographers is that we will definitely know after this weekend which of the three photographers that we have met with will be the one for us. I am excited about that. I have a feeling that we have already met with the photographer that we are going to pick, but just to make sure we wanted to meet with a few others.

I do not own this picture, I found
it on Google
Last weekend we met with a photography company called Yellow Paddle Photography. They are an affordable photography company who have up and coming photographers as well as professionals. Now you get to choose from like 10 up and coming photographers or you can choose the pro's. The professionals packages are more expensive of course, but if we do decide to go with them, we are choosing the up and coming photographers because their work is just as great as the pro's and so much more affordable. I loved the feel that I got from the owner of the company when we met with her and I loved the packages that they offered and especially the price tag that was associated with the packages. If you would like to check them out, you can do so here.

Another thing on the schedule this weekend is to pick up my ring from the jeweler. I took it in for the six month inspection and one of the diamonds on the inside of the band was missing. I was so bummed because I had to hand my ring over for atleast a week. :( My finger feels naked without that ring. Hopefully it is ready when we go in to get it.

Hopefully my adventures this weekend will go off without a hitch. I hope that everyone has a great weekend and enjoys the few days off.

Car Trouble

Why is it that your car always decides to have problems at the most inconvenient times? And can I just say that if Aran or I have anymore problems with our vehicles this week, I am going to scream. First, my brother pointed out to me on Sunday that my back driver side tire had a huge bald spot on it. Upon further inspection we realized that some of the chord was actually showing too, so I have been trying to baby that tire until I can take it in on Friday. I am not even sure how the tire got the way that it is. My guess is the pothole that I hit the other day, but it wasn't even that big of a pothole, but that would be my luck.

I know it isn't Christmas, but it was
just too funny not to put up!
Since my tire is not very safe to drive on, we have been driving Aran's car to work. We work at the same place so we always just switch off on taking one vehicle. Well yesterday when we went to leave for work, Aran's car was having trouble starting. We are not sure why either. When I took the car to lunch yesterday it started just fine for me so we didn't think much about it until we went to leave work yesterday and it did the same thing. Well this morning, it almost didn't start again and then when I went to lunch again, I barely got it started. So at lunch I took his car home and got mine. So now I am worried that my tire is going to pop and that his car is not going to start. If neither of our cars work, we are screwed.

We are supposed to take Aran's car to his brothers work after we get off of work today and they are going to test the battery out. We are hoping that is all that is wrong, but with our luck, it is probably more than just the battery. My money is on the starter, but I am a girl and nobody ever listens to me on these type of things. I am praying that it is just the battery, but I wouldn't be surprised if it was something else. Please Car Gods, just let it be the battery, and also Car Gods, will you please quit making things break at the most inconvenient times? We have had enough this week and I don't know that I can handle any more so please, please, please, please stop? It would be very much appreciated.

Hope everyone else's week is going a better than mine so far. Happy Wednesday!

Old Movies

I am a pretty excited person right now. Why you ask? Well, I love old movies and always have. I used to watch old movies with my Grandma all the time and we both loved two movies, State Fair and Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Since my Grandma passed away in December I have been looking for these movies on DVD because I knew watching them would remind me of her and in a good and happy way so we have been on the lookout for them. I already had one of them, but somewhere in all the moving this summer, it has disappeared and when I realized it was gone I was pretty upset. Everywhere we looked, nobody seemed to carry them in stores so Aran decided that for part of my Valentine's Day present he would order them for me. Well he didn't get around to actually ordering them until about a week ago (he is very good at procrastinating).

Well, yesterday we arrived at the apartments to find a box from Amazon awaiting us in our mailbox. In it were three movies; Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, Easter Parade, and The Lady Eve. I was so excited because I have been wanting to watch Seven Brides for Seven Brothers lately so it came at the perfect time.  I have never seen the Easter Parade but I had mentioned to Aran that I wanted to see it (thank you for listening honey). It has Judy Garland and Fred Astaire in it so it must be good,  so I am looking forward to watching that one too. Aran ordered The Lady Eve for himself and he ordered State Fair too but he ordered it from a different company so we still have to wait for that one to get here which sucks but atleast I have a few other movies to keep me busy while I wait on it. I am so excited to watch all of them simply because I miss my Grandma so much and I just want something happy to remember her by right now. This is the best way that I can think to do that right now, other than to go play Bingo of course, but for right now, I think this will be perfect.

If you guys have any old movies, especially musicals that you would recommend, please do! I am always looking for new movies to watch. I hope that everyone is having an exceptionally great Tuesday!!

My First Tutu and A Very Busy Weekend

My first tutu!
For awhile now I have been wanting to make tutu's for my nieces. I keep seeing all of these really adorable one's on etsy and other websites and I kept thinking to myself that it couldn't be that hard. I finally looked it up last week and was amazed at how easy they really were. So last night I set out to make my very first one. It turned out better than I could have imagined. I am planning on making another one this weekend so that I have one for my both of my nieces. If it goes well, I might start making more so that I can experiment with them. Hopefully the second one turns out as good as the first one. Fingers crossed!

This weekend is going to be very busy. Tomorrow we have to be at Mass at 7:30 am and then from there we have a retreat that we have to go to that lasts until 3:30. It is definitely going to be a long day. After that we have to go meet with these photographers at 5:00, which I am super excited about. All of their work online looks really amazing and they have a package that has a photobooth option (yay!) and it is within what we budgeted for a photographer (double yay!) I am really hoping that we love them because I have always wanted a photo booth for our wedding reception, so if this works out, I will be one happy girl! So that is what is planned for our Saturday.

Then on Sunday we have mass at 9:00 am and then class after until 12 and then we finally get to go home. Like I said, it is going to be a long weekend and I can not wait until it is over. On a different and kinda weird note, it was like 70 degrees here yesterday and then I woke up this morning to snow. Really? Only in Colorado I guess. Well, I hope that everyone has a fun weekend ahead of them. Hopefully everyone will be lucky enought to have some nice weather!

Gleek!

I am a big TV person. I love watching TV and I am always finding new shows that I can watch. With that being said, I love the show Glee. It is one of my all time favorites and I can't get enough of it. My favorite part of the show is seeing which songs they do each week. They always have such great songs that is impossible to not like what they are singing, which is probably why I have bought almost every soundtrack that they have put out. I broke down today and bought Volume 4 and 5 and so the rest of my day will consist of me rocking out to Glee at my desk.

If you guys haven't been watching Glee, I really encourage you to. Even as a girl in my early 20's, I find myself relating to not only the characters but the story line at times. It covers so many issues that people deal with today and I think it is great that the show is tackling these issues so that people know that they are not alone. The show really is just fun to watch and I look forward to it each week.

If you are wondering what kind of music they do then I can tell you. They do a little bit of everything. They have done songs from Cee Lo Green, Paramore, The Beatles, Katy Perry, Queen and a ton more. They have had entire shows dedicated to one artist. One of the biggest ones that they did was Madonna and the episode and the music was awesome. You can actually buy a separate CD just from that particular episode. The same goes for the Rocky Horror Picture Show episode that they did and the Valentine's Day episode. They even have two original songs that the cast performed for the Regionals episode that aired yesterday. The songs were amazing and I was able to relate to them so well.

Like I said before, this show is really just amazing and everyone should check it out if you haven't already. Hope everyone is having a good day! Or should I say a Gleeful day?

Decisions, Decisions

I wanted to let you guys in on a few decisions that I have made for the wedding. Now I am sure that many of you can relate to what I am going through. I think that I find something that I absolutely love and then I see something totally different and then I change my mind. I have been doing this a lot lately, but one thing seems to be staying the same so I am making an official decision on my (drum roll please).....................

What I want my bouqet to look like

FLOWERS!!! Yay for making a decision, haha! I have decide that my bouquet will be made up of pink calalillies. I may not have spelled that correctly, oops! I guess something else I should tell you should be what my wedding colors are. Thankfully Aran doesn't really care what I do with the wedding, he is just looking forward to the food part, so I have chosen a bright, but kind of dark pink, brown and a more greenish teal. So I want my bouquet to be pink so that it stands out against my ivory dress. For the bridesmaids bouquets, I have decided on pink hydrangeas. They are so simple and cute and I think that they would be perfect.

What I would like the
Bridesmaids bouquets
 to look like
I have also decided that the bridesmaid dresses will be brown with possible sashes, depending on which dress they get. And my little nieces are going to be wearing pink tutu dresses for their flowergirl dresses because I want them to have fun in what they are wearing. As of right now, those are the only decisions that are set in stone because I am sure that I will change my mind on everything else atleast ten more times, haha. I really am starting to get excited about everything. It actually seems like things are starting to take shape and I am hoping that this process is going to be less stressful in the future then it has been already (that is a whole lot of hoping that I have to do!) For now though, I am going to try and relax and be excited about the decisions that I have already made. Do you guys have any advice on how to make this whole planning process less stressful? Hope everyone is having a good day!

Friend Dedication: Veronica

I recently told you guys that I would be dedicating some of my blogs to my amazing friends that I have. So I have decided that today is a good day to do that. Today's blog is dedicated to my amazing, loving, and caring friend Veronica.

Veronica and I met our freshman year of college during cheerleading tryouts. She was another one of those girls that I didn't like because again they bragged about their high school squads being so good and like I said, mine wasn't, haha! We were eventually paired together to be bases for a stunt group, with Lacey as our back spot and the friendship took off from there. Throughout our freshman year she really began to grow on me. I loved how she wasn't afraid to speak her mind, and she would have your back no matter what. I loved hearing her stories about back home in Alaska and we loved teasing her about Alaska with saying things like it not being in the U.S. We even asked her at one point if you needed a green card or a passport to go up there (we were totally joking with her, but I secretly think she hated us when we did this.) By the end of that year, we were doing everything together.

Our sophomore year, it was pretty much the same. She lived down the hall from me in the on campus apartments, so again we did everything together. Trips to Applebees, Wal-Mart, the Snowdown Parade, weekend movies and dinners along with cheerleading practice. She even taught me how to sew because I was pretty clueless about it. One of the things that I remember the most about that year was all of the ridiculous food that we would cook. One night she made fried plantains with this dipping sauce and it was delicious. She also made us halibut one night. She was always cooking really yummy meals for us. Our relationship seemed to be growing more and more, but I don't think any of us were expecting what was going to happen our Junior Year. Everything changed when we came back our Junior Year. I'm not going to go too much into details, but someone that was very close with all of us somehow made us think that Veronica was a horrible person and we started to not hang out with her as much. I totally regret this now because in the end, the person who I thought was the nice one turned out to be the horrible friend. If I could go back, I would change everything.

Me and Veronica on one of
our many shopping trips
Senior year rolled around and again things changed drastically. Lacey and I started hanging out with Veronica again because the other friend was no longer there. We noticed such a huge difference in Veronica that it made us realize how great of a friend she really was. We started hanging out non stop again. Almost every night we were at one of our places doing dinner and movies or talking about wedding plans because Veronica was getting married later that year. Or we were swimming, or shopping, there was always something going on with us. Things were back to the way that they should have been all along, and I couldn't have been happier with the way that things were going. Towards the end of the year, some things happened with girls in her wedding party that caused Veronica to ask Lacey and I to come to Alaska to be in her wedding. After we figured out the finance part of it, we were in! I was so excited to go up there and see what she had been talking about for the last four years.

Graduation came along and after a long weekend of celebration with all of our families, Veronica, Lacey and I had to go our separate ways. It was definitely hard saying goodbye, but I was very proud of myself because I didn't cry. We all knew that we would be seeing each other again really soon so we tried to look forward to it. All summer I couldn't wait for her wedding.

Veronica and I after Graduation
In August, Lacey and I along with Lacey's family, made the trip to Alaska to see Veronica get married. Lacey left before I did so she had already been there a few days, but as soon as I got there, the three of us picked up right where we left off. I remember talking to my mom right after I got there and she could hear the conversation that was going on in the background which of course had tons of laughter in it, and I just remember her saying, "Wow, it is as if you guys never left each other." That stuck with me because it really was true. The rest of the time that we spent up there was amazing and we had such a great time at the wedding dancing the night away.

I am so thankful that I got to spend those last few days with her. She is such an amazing friend and no matter what, she can make you laugh and she will always be there for you and she continues to always be there for me. I can't wait until I get to see her again. I'm not sure when that will be; hopefully it will be soon though. I hope that everyone has a friend like Veronica because I don't know what my life would be like without her. Enjoy the pictures below of us throughout the year.

Fill In The Blank Friday

It is Friday, so that means it is time for Fill in the Blank Friday over at The Little Things We Do. If you would like to join in, make sure that you go and link up.

1. My biggest accomplishment in life thus far is finishing school and my relationship. Sorry, I couldn't pick just one. I am one of the first kids in my immediate family to graduate from College, so I am very proud of that. Also I am very proud of my relationship with my fiancee. We have been together for almost four years and it hasn't always been easy. The first three years of our relationship we did long distance, so we have come a long way and I am so proud of where we are going as well.

2. My favorite place to sit in my house is the couch. I love our couch. It is so comfy, but recently I have been trying to not be so lazy and not sit on the couch so much, haha!

3. My fashion philosophy is to wear things that make me comfortable and that make me feel cute. I don't really care if it isn't the most popular thing. If I am comfortable and I feel good about how I look then that is all that matters.

4. Something every girl should have is a pair of jeans that make you feel great and look amazing at the same time.

5. If you looked in my purse right now you'd find way too much crap, haha! A wallet, a zipper pouch with pens and pencils, a zipper pouch with ibuprofen and other medicine stuff like Icy Hot. There is also chapstick, lotion, an Ipod, a winning scratch ticket, sunglasses, my keys and I am sure there is a ton of other stuff that I am forgetting to mention.

6. My favorite music right now is a lot of things. The playlist on here is what I have been listening to lately. A lot of it is music that I listened to in High School and have recently been listening to again.

7. My favorite part of my body is my natural waist. My natural waist is so tiny, however I wish the rest of my stomach area was the same, haha!
