Bridal Portrait Pictures

Remember when I showed you guys the sneak peek of my Bridal Portrait pics? And remember when I told you that I would post all of them for you guys to see? Yeah, I kind of forgot to do that. Sorry!! But, I did finally remember, so tadaa! They are here for your viewing pleasure.

Now there was like 108 pictures total, so instead of posting all of them for you guys to see here, I decided to just make the album I have of them public on Facebook so that you could just go through all of them. So, if you click the link below, you will be able to browse through all 108 of them.

BRIDAL PORTRAITS PICTURE ALBUM

Again, I was absolutely in love with how all of these pictures turned out. Jen at J Blazis Photography did an amazing job and I will definitely be using her in the future for other photo needs.

Enjoy everyone!

Rylei Watch Update

Last week I officially started Rylei watch due to my SIL being super prego and ready to pop at any minute. Well, I thought I would give you guys a little update.

My SIL went to the doctor on Monday and she is now at 6 cm dilated and 90% effaced. So we are definitely getting closer. They have already scheduled for her to be induced on Sunday, September 2nd, if she has not already had little Miss Rylei.

So if all goes well, this Labor Day weekend, we will be welcoming a new addition to my rapidly growing family. I am so excited to have another Niece to spoil that I just can't take the waiting anymore. I am in full impatient mode at this point.

So little Miss Rylei, I know that you are comfortable in there and it's probably warm and all that jazz. But, you need to hurry up and get here already or they are going to make you come out!

Break.com posted this photo on their
Facebook. It seems appropriate for the present time.

That Time the Fire Department Came to My House

You know it is going to be an awesome day when the first thing that happens in your day is a visit from the Fire Department. Yep! Totally happened to us this morning.

The Hubby and I were getting ourselves ready for work when all of a sudden this super loud and obnoxious screaching started echoing throughout the house. We thought at first that it was the smoke detectors, so we were running around the house trying to see if anything was on fire. Then once we determined that there wasn't anything on fire, we realized that it was our Carbon Monoxide detector that was going off.

This was about the time that I went into panic mode. I called my Step Mom, because she works for the City's dispatch center. She told me that we needed to have the Fire Department come out so she called me back on her recorded line and dispatched the Fire Department and the Utility company to come out to make sure that everything was okay.

We also weren't allowed to be in the house at this point. So we put our fur babies in their carrier kennels and went and stood outside and waited for the Fire Department to get there. About 10 minutes later, they showed up. They went inside and checked everything out and actually brought the detector outside with them. They said they weren't getting any readings, and that more than likely the detector needed a new battery(which they tried and it still was making that awful noise) or it was defective. I felt like an idiot at this point.

After the firefighters left(this made me a little sad, a few of them were pretty cute. Shhhhh! Don't tell my husband) the utility company came out and he did a more thorough check of the house and said that everything was okay. He also told us that the detector was defective and that we should invest in a more expensive one that has a digital display so that we could see what the ppm(parts per million) is and then decide if we are in any real danger.

This was all within the first two hours of my day, so my expectations for this day right now are not real high. Overall though, I am glad that nothing was really wrong and I am glad that we decided to error on the side of caution. Like they always say, it is better to be safe than sorry.

Hope you guys are having a better day.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was a blast! I honestly don't even remember what we did on Friday night, but it obviously wasn't very exciting. Saturday however was crazy and hectic but an absolute blast.

Saturday morning started with my Fantasy Football draft. And guess who drew first pick? This girl. I was excited, but at the same time first pick kind of sucks because after you make your first pick you have to wait for the entire first round and almost all of the second round before you can pick again. Oh well, I still got a pretty good team and I can't wait to kick some bootay this season!

After our draft, we had the hubby's company picnic to go to. It was really nice and I got to meet some of his new co-workers. But the fun part of the day came after the company picnic festivities. After we got home I headed down to my Brothers house so that we could go to the State Fair. I got free tickets to the rodeo that goes on during the Fair so we all decided to go down.

We showed up and the first place we headed was over to the Mutton Busting area. My youngest niece, Kelsi, has been wanting to try Mutton Busting for a couple of months now, ever since she saw it at the last rodeo we went to. For those of you who don't know what Mutton Busting is, it is when a child get's strapped to a sheep to see how long and how far they can hold on.

My Brother and Kelsi, waiting in line.

Kelsi did such a good job. Even though she didn't win, she still held on for around three seconds and then barrel rolled off the side. She stood up shook the dirt out of her helmet and then had this huge smile on her face. She loved it so much that she can't wait to do it again. My Brother even told her that he will buy her a sheep so that she can practice, to which she replied, "But what if the Sheep poops on my bed?" I lost it. I was crying I was laughing so hard.

Right as she came out of the gate
Holding on!
Barrel roll off
Right after she fell off
Walking out of the arena
Here is a video of her ride...

After the Mutton Busting, we headed on over to the rodeo. The rodeo itself was kind of boring because the cowboys just weren't doing very well. The best part came after the rodeo. Included with the tickets for the rodeo was admission to the concert afterwards. And Thompson Square was the band playing that night. And they were AMAZING!!!! I can't wait until they come back to CO again.

After the concert we walked around a bit and rode some of the rides and played a few of the games. Pretty much a waist of money there, but it was fun. We ended up leaving the Fair around midnight and it was a good hour ride home to where my Brother lives. So I ended up not leaving their house until 1:00 am. And my drive home was amazing because I got to talk to my bestie, Lou on the phone the whole way home(she lives in Hawaii so it was only 9:00 there) and that phone call just made my night that much better.

Sunday was pretty uneventful considering that I was still trying to recoop from Saturday. We watched some Football and then went to dinner and that was pretty much the extent of it. Overall, it was a great weekend again and I had a blast hanging out with my family.

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun?

Rylei Watch

Remember how I told you guys a few weeks ago that I was going to be an Aunt again? Well, the time is getting closer. My Sister-In-Law is due in less than three weeks and if her first two pregnancies are any indication of how things will go, little miss Rylei should be making her debut within the next week or so.

So Rylei watch begins today! My SIL has an appointment today and as of last week she was already dilated to 5cm so we will see where she is at today. I am starting to get really excited to meet my new niece. I can't wait to see what she looks like. And I can't wait to see my nieces faces when they meet their new sister!

My Brother and I are hoping that she has her today or if not, we have told her that she has to at least wait until Sunday. Why? Well, we have tickets to the Rodeo at the State Fair on Saturday and included with our tickets is a concert. That concert just happens to be Thompson Square and we are super excited about it. All of us! So we have told her that if she doesn't have her today, that she has to at least wait until Sunday so that we can all go to the concert on Saturday. We realize how horrible we are, no need to tell us, haha!

Bottom line though, no matter when little miss Rylei comes, we will be thrilled. We can't wait to meet her. So Rylei, hurry up and get here so we can meet you. Your Aunt Megan is very impatient(along with everyone else in the family) so the sooner, the better!

Pinterest Project: Make Up Board

I'm pretty sure all of you have seen this make up board floating around on Pinterest. You know, the one that is magnetic so that you can de-clutter your counter top and your make up bag? No? Take a look then.

Ever since I saw the first one, I have been wanting to make one. And now with a new house and needing things to fill wall space, I figured why not? And, I had bought an old picture frame at a garage sale that I was wanting to use for something and this seemed perfect.

Old picture frame that I bought at a Garage Sale for $1

Detail on the frame
I started out by dry brushing the frame with the color that I wanted to use. This is a technique that I saw on the Junk Gypsies TV show on HGTV. It helps to really bring out the details in whatever you are trying to paint. And it gave it kind of an antiquee feel which is definitely what I was going for.

Once my frame was dry, I moved on to the actual board part of it. Originally I was just going to buy some of that magnetic paint and paint it onto a piece of plywood, but after doing a lot of research on it, and reading a ton of reviews, I decided against it. Most people said that the paint didn't work very well and I didn't want to waste my money so I went a different route.

I went to Home Depot and bought a piece of steel instead. I took a magnet with me to make sure that it was magnetic first of all and then we measured to make sure that the piece was big enough. We got it home and cut it down to size and then went to work on deciding what pattern I wanted on it. I scowered the internet and found a pattern that I loved. We printed it out onto regular copy paper. I cut the pattern out and then retraced it onto a thicker paper and then cut that one out. Once I had it cut out, I laid it in the middle of my piece of steel and held it in place with magnets so that it wouldn't move.

Then I took the paint that I wanted and painted the pattern onto the board. This took so much time. Even more time than I thought it would. I had to do quite a few coats so that the paint didn't look streaky.

My paint colors and brushes

After I was done painting my pattern onto my steel, I sprayed it with a Mod Podge clear acrylic sealer. I thought this would help the paint from scratching, but it really didn't make a difference. Once we were done with all of the painting we cut out a piece of plywood to the exact same dimensions as the piece of steel. We then laid the steel on top of the plywood and then put the two pieces in the frame. Once we had it positioned the way we wanted it, I put wood glue all around the edges where the plywood met the frame. And then we nailed tiny little nails in the plywood and into the frame so that it would stay put. We then added a hanger on the back so that we could hang it later.

And that was it, it was done! The only thing left to do was to attach magnets to the back of all of my make up. I did that using a hot glue gun. I also put two magnet strips on the bottom of the board to hold my bobby pins and barrettes. I also have a plastic pencil holder that is flat on one side that I want to paint and attach to the board to hold all of my brushes, but I haven't gotten that far yet.

I absolutely love how it turned out. It came out a lot better than I was expecting and I love the way it looks in my bathroom. This was definitely worth my time and effort. I know that I will use this thing for a very long time.

Have you done any projects that you found on Pinterest lately? Did they turn out the way that you were hoping?

Weekend Recap

Well, it's Monday. Oh joy! And I am already telling Friday to hurry the heck up and get here. It is going to be a long week, I have a feeling.

This past weekend was a little hectic again, but it was fun. Friday afternoon I left work around 2:30 to go pick up this adorable little girl from her first day of Kindergarten...

My Niece, MaKenzi

She is getting so big so fast. I keep telling her to quit growing, but she just won't. She absolutely loved Kindergarten and is even looking forward to going back today. Whoa! A kid that likes school, haha! I am so proud of her.

I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening hanging out with my family. We had dinner and watched a little bit of football and then I headed home.

Saturday I didn't get up until 10:30 which was a small victory for me considering that I have two kitties that love to annoy the crap out of me in the mornings until I get up and feed them. Well they did this Saturday morning too, but I kicked them out of the room. I will not let them train me, haha! I win!

I had no plans for Saturday so after I had a huge bowl of cereal I decided to have a Harry Potter marathon. About half way through the first movie, I got a call from my Sister-In-Law saying that my oldest niece wanted to go get her ears pierced.  Her younger sister had already got hers pierced and after much thought on her part she had finally decided to get hers done. Well, I had made her a deal a while back that if she wanted to get her ears pierced, I would go and get mine done too so that she could see that it didn't hurt. So after getting ready pretty quick, I was off to the mall to meet them at Claire's.

She was pretty excited at first, and then this younger girl went before her and cried so much after getting one done that MaKenzi freaked out, but luckily we were able to calm her down and I got mine done and showed her that I didn't cry so she was ready (that is piercing number 15 if anyone is counting.)

The very top one is the newest piercing

The before picture

She picked out some Hello Kitty earrings and was ready to go. She wanted me to sit in the chair with her so I did. She sat in my lap and they marked where they were going and after the okay from Mom, they had a second person come over so that we could do both ears at once. There was no way in H E double hockey sticks that we were going to let them do them one at a time. And good thing we didn't because as soon as they counted to three and pierced her ears she let out a big "Owww!" and then immediately burst into tears. Poor thing! After a little while she eventually quit crying though and now she loves that she has her ears pierced. She already wants to buy more earrings. Such a girl!

The after picture

After the ear piercing fun, I went home and the Hubby and I went to dinner and then walked around Bed Bath & Beyond, where we spent way too much money. Oops!

Sunday was pretty uneventful. I didn't get up until 10:30 again (haha kitties! I win again) and proceeded with my Harry Potter Marathon. After the second movie we went and bought a shredder so we could shred at least two years worth of mail and then we did some grocery shopping and then we came home. The rest of our Sunday was spent watching Harry Potter and shredding the last two years of credit card offers. Holy bajeesus, there was a lot of them.

Overall it was a great weekend. And I finally finished that project that I was working on last weekend. I will have a separate post up about that later this week. I hope that you guys had a great weekend. I know that I can't wait until the next one, that is for sure!
