Flower Girl Dresses

When you think of a flower girl dress you are probably picturing something like this,

Well, it is pretty and all but if you know these two stinkers, you know that the combination of them and white is just not a good idea.

Which is completely fine by me because I wanted to put them in something that they would absolutely love and would actually get use out of again. Enter the tutu dress!

I was browsing the good ol' internet one day for tutu dresses because my nieces love tutu's, when I came across a tutu dress that I had never seen before and I fell in love with it. It was on a website called All About Tots. They make tutu's, tutu dresses, costume tutu's and more. There stuff is so cute and very affordable. I looked through everything that they had on their site and I still went back to this particular dress.

I fell in love with this dress and I couldn't get over how flippin' adorable it was and also how much my nieces would love to have this dress. The best part about it was that it had the little sleeves and since we are getting married in the Catholic church, they had to have something covering their shoulders, so it was perfect. So I emailed Kristin who is the owner of All About Tots and asked her if we could do custom colors and she said that was no problem and that it wouldn't even cost me extra. Sweetness! So last night I ordered these adorable dresses in our custom colors. They should be here in a few weeks!

I can't wait to see how they turn out and I can't wait to see how adorable my nieces look in these! I know they are going to love them because I showed them the picture one time and my oldest niece got this huge smile on her face that pretty much told me she loved it.

Did you go with a more traditional flower girl dress? Or did you do something completely different?

Good Times

Happy belated Thanksgiving everyone! Sorry I have been MIA for a few days. I hlave been spending a lot of time with family and friends this past week and I wouldn't have had it any other way.

Thursday I spent with my family for Thanksgiving. My brother taught me how to actually cook Thanksgiving dinner since I have never done it before. It was a great day and I am so glad that I got to spend some time with my family and especially my nieces.

Thursday night/Friday morning, the fiance' and I went over to Kohl's since we live right next door to it and stood in line for about twenty minutes while we waited for them to open their doors for Black Friday shopping. Now we are not normally Black Friday shoppers, but Kohl's had a couple of things that were on sale that were just too good to pass up. My oldest nieces birthday is next week and she has been asking for anything and everything Barbie so when I saw that Kohl's had this on sale for $20, I knew that we had to try and get one.

My niece is going to be so excited about her Birthday present. I can't wait to see her reaction. I had also seen in the ad for Kohl's that they had flannel bed sheets on sale for $24 for a full size bed. We love flannel sheets so we also set out to find those as well. Luckily we got everything that we wanted. I was really excited about our new bed sheets too! They are soooo cute!

Our kitties really liked our new bed sheets as well, if you can't tell...

We didn't do much else on Friday. We did put up our Christmas decorations. And I quickly decided that we don't have enough of them. Christmas is my favorite holiday so I always decorate as much as I can. So I need to find more Christmas decorations. Aran is probably going to kill me if I buy more stuff, but he is just going to have to deal with it, haha.

Today(Saturday) we went to a birthday party for our friend Sarah's little boy Jack. It was his first birthday and we had a lot of fun. After that and after going to church, the bestie Lou and her hubby came over to hang out. Lou and I played Just Dance 3 for a few hours. We had an absolute blast. I miss hanging out with my bestie, but our work schedules here lately have been crazy and have been exact opposite so it has been difficult to find time to spend together, but I am really glad that we finally got to hang out.

Something that we both find kind of funny is that her husband and my fiance get along really well. Like almost too well. They are essentially the same person. It is pretty hilarious. But the cool thing about that is that when we all hang out, they get along so well and we don't have to worry about trying to keep them included or entertained because they entertain themselves, haha!

Any who, I am sitting on the couch now and Lou is passed out and her husband and my fiance are sitting on the floor in front of us where they have been for the past few hours playing everything under the sun on the Wii. I guess we are partially to blame because we were the ones that pushed them to play Just Dance 3 together solely for the purpose that we thought it would be hilarious. Well, after that they decided that they wanted to play a ton of other games and now, we are paying for it, haha! It's okay though, I wouldn't have it any other way.

I hope that everyone else has had a great holiday and great weekend. I know that I have, but I just wish that it wasn't almost over. I am not really looking forward to going back to work on Monday, ugh!

How was your Holiday? Where did you spend it?

Productive

The title of this post pretty much sums up my weekend. The fiance' and I were very productive this weekend. We completed another wedding project and have almost finished another. I love that our list is getting shorter and shorter!

This past weekend was also the date that we gave our guests to have their RSVP's in. Now I know that we will probably still get some in the coming weeks. We actually planned for that, but with our wedding being right after the holidays, we didn't want the RSVP's getting lost in all of the holiday mail. So over the next couple of weeks, I will probably be harassing some people to see if they are coming to the wedding or not. I hate to have to do that, but we definitely need to know who is coming and who isn't. Not only do we need a number to give to our caterer, but we also have a seating chart and place cards to do, so it is kind of an important thing ya know?

Something else that we have been going back and forth with are Menu cards. I am absolutely in love with the idea of it, however, I am not in love with actually having to do the work, haha! So right now it is still up in the air. I keep thinking that this day only happens once and that I should do what I want with it, but then I think about all the work that I would have to do with ordering the card stock and then designing them and then printing them and it makes it seem like it is not important (even though if I do this, I think I will have Staples or an office place like that print these for me). I know that probably sounds horrible, but I am just not sure that I want to add more stuff to the mix. Knowing me I will go back and forth with this for a while.

Something that I get to look forward to today is that my jewelry is supposed to be here. I can't wait to get it and try it on. I hope that it looks as good on me as it did in the pictures. And luckily I already received a phone call saying that my alterations were done on my dress. And they have already scheduled me for my second fitting so that will be on the 2nd of December so I can take my jewelry and try it on with my dress really soon!

I think that is about it for today. Work is going to be pretty busy these next three days, so hopefully I make it out alive. And if I do, then I get a nice four day weekend. Too bad I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn on Thursday to help out with Thanksgiving dinner. I have never cooked Thanksgiving dinner so I am helping my brother this year so that he can teach me how to do everything so that eventually one day I can make my own Thanksgiving dinner for everyone. Hopefully I will have a few other posts this week, but if not, I hope that everyone has a great week and a great Thanksgiving!

Did you have to call and harass people about RSVPing? Also did you have an office supply type store print your programs and menu's? What program did you use to design these?

Tonight Is The Night...

For this awesomeness...

That's right, I will be one of those people standing in line to see the midnight showing tonight!! I am so excited! I can't wait!

I actually read all of the books prior to the first movie coming out. I was really sad when the books ended but I knew that they were at least at that point making the first movie. So I had something to look forward too.

When the first movie came out, the bestie, Lou and I drove 45 minutes from where we were going to school at to go to a midnight showing of the first movie. Did we care that we both had classes the next morning? Nope! Did we care that we would be driving back home at 2:30 in the morning? Nope! We had to be there to see it at midnight and there was no question about that.

The night before we spent our time making these bad ass custom made Twilight shirts(yes we are dorks and we know it and we don't care) and talking about how excited we were. Well once we both got off work we grabbed some food and headed down to the town that Lou was from and where we were going to see this movie. We headed to the movie theater around 9 and sat in line for an hour and a half. Luckily we came prepared, haha! I brought a Sudoku book and my iPod and some homework. So while we sat there for two hours we were well entertained. Once we actually got into the theater, we grew more excited. An hour later it was finally time for the movie to start. Of course we loved it. What kind of fans would we be if we didn't. We had a blast that night and lets just say that a tradition was born.

The bad ass shirts we made!

The back of our shirts! The bottom says "I run with vampires"

Us in the theater waiting for the movie to start!

The following year when New Moon came out, we did the midnight showing again but in the town where we were attending school this time. Not to mention we brought a few of our friends along. We made our bad ass custom New Moon shirts and then went down to the theater early and waited again for the midnight showing. Again, it was awesome!

Unfortunately due to us being in different cities, we weren't able to continue this tradition for Eclipse, but we are once again in the same city so the tradition continues tonight for Breaking Dawn Part 1. The only thing that will be different is that we didn't have time to make our bad ass shirts, haha! We talked about it but both of us are so busy with life and wedding planning that it just didn't work out this time.

I am so excited that we get to do this again tonight though.. I look forward to our little tradition when the new movies come out and I can't wait to see how great the movie is. The only thing that could make this night any better is if this girl

Me and our friend Veronica

and this girl

Me and our friend Nicole
could join us. We miss you guys and wish you were going to be here!

Are any of you going to see the midnight showing tonight? Or did you never get into the books and the movies?

Dresses Ordered...Check!

I have been holding off on doing this post because I was still waiting on a couple of my girls to go order their dresses. Well, I am very excited to report that every single one of my girls has ordered their dresses. Not only that, but three of them are already here!! That was quick!

Luckily, we picked out a dress that only takes 4-6 weeks to come in. If you don't remember we picked out The Dessy Group's Twist Wrap Dress in Espresso. Because this is not your typical dress where it only covers one size, this dress doesn't take as long to ship to the customer. With this dress one size covers multiple dress sizes. For example a size S is for girls that are size 6-10, a M is for sizes 12-16 and so on. I am absolutely in love with this dress and I want to order myself one so badly. All of my girls really seemed to like it when they tried it on so I hope that they will actually wear this dress again since you can do so many different styles with it.

The only other thing that I have to say is that we totally beat the Groom and all of his groomsmen in getting our stuff ordered first, haha! Sorry honey bunnies, but we beat you fair and square!

We Have A Bridesmaid!

Last week I told you guys about how I had a bridesmaid tell me she could no longer be in the wedding because of personal reasons. Well, I am happy to report that I have asked another very good friend of mine to be in the wedding and she has accepted. So, I want to introduce you guys to the newest member of our bridal party, Rochelle...

Rochelle and I met through one of my fiance's best friends, James. James and Aran were roommates for three years during college. While they were living together James and Rochelle started dating and have actually been together longer than Aran and I have been. Well they introduced us to each other one day and we hit it off really well. We were both going to school for the same degree so we had a lot in common. When I moved back from school after graduating, Rochelle and I started hanging out more and more and over the past two years we have become great friends. I can talk to her about anything and I am always so excited to see her and hang out with her. She is such an amazing friend and I am so glad to have her in my life. I am so excited that I was able to ask her to be a part of our big day and I am even more excited that she accepted.

So there you have it, we have a full bridal party AGAIN!! Wahoo!!! I am glad that I didn't stress about this, haha! It is definitely something that was not worth stressing over.

Did you have something similar happen? Or know of someone that had something similar happen?

Updates Galore

The past six days have flown by and I didn't realize how much I was slacking on posting until today. Sorry again! Things have been crazy once again and especially with work. Lets just say on a normal day at work I cut about 30 checks and today I did over 200!!! Yikes! I am exhausted and my brain is fried so hopefully I can put some words into sentences and make this post readable for you guys.

The one on left holding the hair dryer =work!

Last Thursday I had my first fitting. It went really well. They custom made my cap sleeves and they are exactly how I envisioned them. They are perfect. I can't wait to see them actually sewn into the dress and not just pinned on. I chose to have them sewn in so that they would be sturdier. This means that those babies aren't coming off the whole night unless I cut them out and that is NOT going to happen. Unfortunately I didn't get a very good picture of the cap sleeves. And the only pictures I did get were of me in the dress and I don't want to put those up anywhere just in case a certain fiance decides to actually read this blog for once. That would be my luck.

Other than the cap sleeves, the only other alterations I need are to get my train bustled which is costing about $80 and then they are taking in the top just a smidgen so the girls don't decide to make their debut during the wedding at any point and also there was a tear on the back of my train in the tulle and so they are going to fix that too. I don't know how that got there, but I think someone stepped on the dress and ripped it. I'm not too worried about it though. The lady said that they could fix it and you wouldn't be able to tell and not only that but when it is bustled, you won't even see it. So total my alterations only cost me $170. I was way excited!

We did manage to get a few things done for the wedding this weekend. Saturday I went and got a haircut so that my hair will hopefully be back to the length that I want it for the wedding. Well, we were a little early for this appointment so we went to the Goodwill that was near the hair salon and we finally found a picture frame that we liked for our photo booth sign. It is a pretty cool frame, and the picture in it is pretty ugly so it was perfect. Yesterday I bought some sand paper and we are working on sanding off all of the paint that is already on it. This way we can paint it a bright color. We were going to take the picture and the glass out and then paint the glass with chalkboard spray paint to turn it into a chalkboard, but the back of the frame is covered. It doesn't have the little turney things that make the back pop open so we are going to have to tape the glass off and then paint the frame and then after that is dry we are going to have to tape the frame off and paint the glass. I can't wait to see how it turns out. The picture below is what I hope it looks like when we are finished. Except much bigger

I also received our custom stamp in the mail from Stamp Out Online, a shop on Etsy. I ordered this stamp for our favor boxes. It looks amazing. I can't wait to see it all put together on the actual boxes.

Custom Stamp

And I FINALLY received the rest of the tote bags that I ordered. It only took them two months to get all of them to me. And thankfully the company refunded me the shipping on them too since it took so long to get them. So now I am working on sprucing those up with some fun fabric flowers and ribbon. I am trying to figure out an easy way to put their initials or their names on the bag so that they don't get them confused. Any suggestions?

It was a pretty productive weekend and we are trying to make it a productive week. Our goal is to try and get all of the DIY projects done by the weekend of Thanksgiving so that all that we have to do as far as projects go in December are our programs and possibly some menu cards. That one is still up in the air as to whether or not to do them.

So, that in a nutshell is the past 6 days. We are still working on finishing up the few projects mentioned here. I am hoping to have at least two of them done by this weekend. Fingers crossed!

Did you try to finish all of your DIY projects pretty far in advance? Or did it come down to the wire?

This is so cute!

I found this video today and I had to share it. I love hockey so I thought this was a cool idea. I would never do this for my wedding, but I still think it is cool!

Fill In the Blank Friday

It has been a really long time since I have done this so I figured what the hay, why not! So it is time to fill in some blanks for Fill in the Blank Friday that Lauren over at the little things we do hosts every Friday. Shall we?

  1. My favorite new blog of the moment is Down at Fraggle Rock. K cracks me up with her stories of life and wedding planning and I can relate to a lot of them. You should go check her out!

  1. Something I am thankful for is my family and friends. I don’t know where I would be without them. Love you guys!

  1. Something that made me laugh this week was watching my cat Beckett yawn and about mid yawn he just stops and starts licking his chops, haha! It was hilarious!

  1. An item that is currently on my wish list is a bigger place to live with a much BIGGER kitchen. We are running out of space everywhere in our apartment and I am so ready to move into a house.

  1. I am excited about how my cap sleeves turned out on my wedding dress, and about getting my hair cut tomorrow!

  1. If I were a color I would be PINK! Hello! Any other color would just not be me!

  1. My favorite way to spend a chilly fall day is by curling up on the couch in my pajamas with a blanket and a ton of great movies. Just thinking about it makes me want to go home and curl up on the couch!

Well, that was fun! There were some awesome questions this week. If you want to participate, don't forget to go link up on Lauren's page. I hope that everyone has a great weekend!

Wedding Nightmares...Again!

The other day I told you guys that I had my first wedding nightmares. Well it happened again last night. If this is any sign of what is to come in the future nights, I am not sure that I want to go to sleep, haha! I hate having nightmares, but ones about the wedding scare me more I think just because I truly am worried about a lot of this stuff happening.

Last night's nightmare was quite interesting. I remember that three specific things happened. Right now I can only seem to remember two of them though. Odd that I can't remember all of them, they were so vivid this morning when I woke up but now that I have been at work for a while, I can't seem to remember the last one. Well, I can definitely tell you that in this nightmare, my wedding dress was PURPLE. And not like there was a mistake and someone had accidentally died it this color. I had ORDERED it in this color. Huh? If I were ever going to order a dress in a fun color, anyone who knows me, knows that it would be PINK, not purple!

This dress is similar to the one in my dream

The other part of the dream that I remember pretty clearly is that there were a few times that I stepped on the skirt of my dress because it wasn't hemmed correctly and it was too long. I remember that each time that I stepped on it, the tulle started to tear where the tulle was connected to the waist of the dress. I think I cried because of this in the dream, haha! That would be like me though, so I can't say that that part was too far off.

There were some other crazy things too but I can't remember the details, I just know that it happened if that makes any sense. I am thinking that the dreams came as a result of me being excited about my first fitting tonight. I can't wait especially since they are going to start working on my cap sleeves! I can't wait to see how they turn out and how they are going to look with my dress. Eeek! I am so excited. Hopefully I can get some pictures of the cap sleeves to show you what they look like. No promises, but I will try my best!

Okay ladies, any of you who have had wedding nightmares, did any of them come true? Or were they completely ridiculous that there was no way that it would happen?

Well, Sometimes You Just Have to Roll With It

Something I never thought I would have to worry about has happened. A really great friend of mine that I asked to be in the wedding had to tell me today that she can't be in the wedding because of some personal reasons. I completely understand why she had to and I could never be upset about her making the best decision for her and her family. I love her to death and I know that she is still going to be at the wedding as a guest so I am just glad that she will still be able to share that day with us.

Well, with that being said, I have to find someone else to be in the wedding. I have already asked someone else, but I am not sure if they are going to be able to. I guess I just have to wait and see. The only problem is that we are running low on time to order the dress. It only takes four to six weeks, but I would rather error on the side of caution.

I am really surprised with myself and how I am handling this situation. I am not even stressing about it. Which is awesome, but with everything else that has been going on lately with work and wedding planning, I am surprised that I am not stressing out over this. I am glad that I am not though, that is for sure. I think I am slowly starting to realize that you have to roll with things and take them as they come. The more you stress, the worse it could get so it is just easier to not stress about it and just take it day by day.

Have any of you had a similar situation? How did you handle it?

Stressed and Overloaded to the MAX!!

Right now to say that I am stressed and overloaded is an understatement. Things have become crazy and hectic in my life. All within the past two weeks. Yes, the wedding planning is playing a big part in that. However, so is work, more so than I think the wedding is.

Let me explain. I work for a company that puts on hundreds of rodeos across the country. I really don't do anything involving the rodeos because I work in the accounting department. I take care of things like paying our bills and month end stuff and journal entries. Pretty much all accounting related stuff. Well, this lovely time of year we have our biggest event of the year. It is held every year at the beginning of December. Even though I don't go to this event or have anything to do with the planning of it, it becomes the busiest and most stressful time of the year for me.

I have almost every person in the office bringing me check requests and invoices that have to be entered and paid before the week of Thanksgiving. This makes me a big ball of stress. I feel like I never have enough time to get these things done. I have tried asking people to get these into me earlier so that I have time to process everything in a timely, not rushed manor, but that never seems to happen. And of course it won't fail, someone will bring me something the day before they have to leave and will need it ASAP. Ugh!! I wish everyone that worked here were planners like me.

Anyways, the stress of work plus the stress of the wedding planning is slowly making me go crazy. So crazy that when I get home at night, instead of working on things for the wedding, I tend to curl up on the couch with some dinner and watch TV the whole night instead of doing anything productive. Lets hope that tonight will be different and that I actually get something done.

Anyone feeling like this lately?

Best Birthday/Christmas Present Ever!!

Last Friday Aran bought me the best Birthday/Christmas present ever!! I can't even begin to describe how excited I am about this gift. My birthday is in December so if there is something that I want that is a little more on the expensive side or it is all that I want, I will just ask Aran or my Mom, whoever is the one buying the gift to just make it a Birthday/Christmas present. So this year, when I found out that this guy,

was going to be going on tour with this guy

along with these guys

I knew that I absolutely HAD to be there if they made a stop in Colorado.

Well, they announced the tour dates and Denver, CO was on the list for January 21st!! Eeeeekkk! You have no idea how excited I was when I saw this. So last Friday the tickets went on sale and my amazing fiance bought me two tickets for my Birthday/Christmas present!

I am so excited to see Scotty McCreery! And of course Brad Paisley and The Band Perry. I am a huge Scotty fan and have been since his first audition on American Idol. So, again, VERY EXCITED!

I am even more excited to get to take this person with me

Photo taken by JM PhotoArt at Lou's husbands homecoming

Now with these awesome tickets in hand, I have two AMAZING things to look forward to in January! My Wedding being the more amazing thing of the two, haha!

2 Months To Go!!

Today marks the 2 month mark! Yep, 61 days and counting. Where did all of my time go? I am definitely starting to feel the time crunch. I have a lot of things left to do and throughout these next few weeks, I am hoping to cross a lot of those things off of my list.

Something that I have heard of other brides having are wedding nightmares. I have been pretty curious to see if I would start having them or if I was going to be extremely lucky and not have them at all. Well, I seem to be on the unlucky half of that because I had my first one this weekend. In my dream it was the wedding day and a lot of little things that I plan on finishing this month were not done. The big one that I can remember is that the sign for the photo booth wasn't done. So there I was the day of the wedding making a trip to Hobby Lobby to finish the bad boy.

Found Via Google Image Search

Now, I don't know if this dream came up because we had been looking at an antique store earlier that day for a frame for the photo booth sign or if that is really something that I am worried about getting done. Probably both, but either way, the nightmares have started.

You know what else has been a nightmare? Trying to get something that I purchased from a seller on Amazon. I ordered these very plain pink and white tote bags from a seller on Amazon for like $5 each. I figured if I got them in time I could spruce them up a bit with a few fabric flowers and jewels or something. Well, I ordered them back in the beginning of September thinking that I would have plenty of time. Well, I received a shipment a week later but it only had two of the ten bags that I ordered. The rest were out of stock and it said that they would be shipped soon. Well here I am two months later and I still don't have the rest of them. I was told that they would be here by next week. But, I have been told that before by this company. So if they aren't here by next week not only am I going to call and raise a little hell, but I am demanding my money back and I will have to figure something else out. Fingers crossed that they actually come next week!

I also ordered my jewelry this weekend. I can't wait until it gets here! I am so excited to see what it looks like with my dress and everything. Speaking of which, I am going in for my first fitting on Thursday. Now I figured I should probably bring my petticoat, and anything else that I plan on wearing with my dress like my veil and shoes, but is there anything else that I need to bring? For those of you that have already done this, any suggestions?

http://www.etsy.com/listing/72374409/jewelry-set-swarovski-pearl-necklace-and

One other thing that I ordered this past weekend was a custom stamp from a seller on Etsy. It is for our favor boxes for our candy buffet. I found the cutest boxes and as soon as I get this stamp I will be customizing them and I can't wait to see how they turn out. I cant' wait to show you guys either!

I know that I have so many more things that I want to tell you guys, but I will save those for another post. This one is getting a tad long, haha! I hope that everyone had a great weekend and has a great week too!

Did you have wedding nightmares? What should I expect at my first fitting?

New Blog Design?

I have really been wanting to do a major blog make over here lately. I am just so bored with the design that I have right now and not only that but I just want more things on it. I want a new header that has pictures on it. I want side bar titles and I want a kick ass navigation bar.

Well, here is my problem. I can't seem to find a blog designer that is a) reasonably priced and b) offers a package that has everything that I want. There are a lot of blog designs out there that look really similar too, so much that you can tell that they have all come from the same person. I really want mine to be unique to me more than the designer.

Do you guys have any suggestions for a great blog designer that I can look into? Who have you used to design your blog? Or did you do your own design? Do you have any tips for me if you have done your own?

Klutz McGee Over Here

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am a klutz. I am always hurting myself in the strangest ways. Whether it be ankle sprains(I am famous for these), running into things, or tripping over my own feet, it never fails. Now that you have that little bit of background info on me, here is what happened last night.

Via Google Image Search

I had just gotten home from walking a few miles with my friend Kristen like we do every Tuesday and Thursday and I decided to take a bath. It was really cold outside and I couldn't seem to get warmed up so I figured a nice hot relaxing bath would be perfect. Well as I was getting into the bath, I put my hand on the wall of the tub and apparently there was water on it and my hand slipped. The end result was my arm and the left side of my body hitting the wall of the tub.

I have been in a little bit of pain since it happened and this morning I have a very light bruise on my side that is about the size of a grapefruit. My only worry is that I bruised my ribs. From what I have been told I would probably be in a little bit more pain than I am right now. I am hoping that it is just a surface bruise if that makes sense. Well, I guess we will find out eventually, right?
