Five on Friday

It's finally Friday! Although technically yesterday was my Friday as I am not working today because I am attending my Zumba Certification Training!! Yay!!! But it is still Friday in the real world and so here is my Five on Friday.

1-I tried to get Ed Sheeran tickets when they went on pre-sale on Monday. Ha! Yeah, that didn't work out. No joke I sat in the virtual waiting room for 20 minutes before it finally let me in and then by that time, there weren't any tickets left. So I guess I will just have to try my luck for when they actually go on sale to everyone.

2-Work was insane this week. But I'm not complaining about it because it kept me busy. And above all else, I am thankful that I have a job. Even though it was insanely busy, I have a job. And some people can't say that.

3-I may or may not be making plans for when I go to Salt Lake City at the end of June to make sure that I go to In N Out Burger. I have never been to one before and when I realized that they had one in SLC, I knew I would have to plan on going. So yeah, I will be making that stop happen.

4-I can't believe I am about to say this, but I am getting tired of the snow. We got about a foot last weekend and have been getting more off and on this past week. I am ready for some warm weather and some sunshine. I'm going crazy not being able to get outside. I can't even imagine how you guys are feeling up in the North East part of the country.

5-Is football back yet??!!!!!!!!!!! I miss it! I hate how short the season is and how long you have to wait in between seasons. It's torture!

There you have it. My Five on Friday. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh Em Dresses!!!!

I'm not usually one to post about fashion and clothes, because let's face it, I don't know that I have the best taste. I like how I dress and that is all that I usually care about.  But after seeing these dresses at Kohl's the other day, I fell in love and decided that they were a must share.

Yes, I shop at Kohl's. I frequent the clearance racks quite often actually. Especially over the last year. Losing 70+ lbs means that you are constantly having to buy new clothes because nothing fits anymore. I promise it is a great problem to have, but it gets expensive, so I am always looking to find things for a cheap.

Back to why I started this post. These dresses! No joke I stopped and salivated stared at these dresses like I was a little kid looking at a new doll in the store window. Which seems about right because these dresses are from Disney's Cinderella line for Kohls! There were at least ten different dresses and I loved every single one of them. I have so many events coming up over the next few months like baby showers, bridal showers, weddings, etc., that these would be perfect for. I will be going back soon to try these on. I just hope that they look as good on me as they do on the hanger.

Here are a few of my favorites...

This one looks way better in person than it does in the picture. It is actually a little bit darker blue than what they are showing. This was the first one that I saw and I am pretty sure it was love at first sight!

Source
This one comes in pink or blue and I love both! I would definitely have to try both on to see which one I like better! Who knows? Maybe I will like both!

Source

This next one was one of my favorite just because of the print. It has these tiny little blue butterflies on it and it reminds me of a print that would be on gorgeous china. I just loved it.

Source
And last but certainly not least, this one is just fun and playful and once again I just love the butterflies on it!

Source

Okay, there's my one fashion post for the year. Just kidding. There could be more, but they are more inclined to be about workout clothes since that seems to be what I live in anymore. But I do see myself spending lots of money on dresses in the near future. At least I have some Kohl's cash that I need to spend and will hopefully help me to not break the bank.

Weigh-In Wednesday

Happy Weigh-In Wednesday!

I am especially excited to share some things with you guys today. Last week I told you I was going to be maxing out on my squats on Friday with my trainer. And we did just that! I am sooooooo excited to tell you guys that I maxed out at 235 lbs!!!! That's right! I can squat over 200 lbs and I am so freaking proud of this accomplishment. That has been one of my goals for a while now, so to finally hit it, it feels amazeballs!

We did a ton of other squats too on Friday after maxing out, so let's just say that my legs were wrecked all weekend. I was so incredibly sore. But, it was the best kind of sore. And I wouldn't trade it for anything!

My workouts have still been pretty consistent too. Minus this past weekend. Saturday was just a weird day. I managed to smash my right pinky pretty good when we were lifting on Friday and it was so swollen and bruised that I could barely put any pressure on that hand. And then add to that how sore my legs were, my workout on Saturday sucked. I felt so off. But I still did something, so that is better than nothing. And Sunday I didn't go anywhere because of snowmageddon, so it ended up being a rest day.

Monday I got right back in the gym though and had a great chest workout. I love spending two + hours lifting at the gym. I swear it's like therapy for me.

I have been doing really well with staying on track with eating. I ended my first cycle of ketosis last Thursday and then had a carb day on Friday and then started my second cycle of ketosis on Saturday. This one is only 7 days and I will be done on Friday. It really does help keep me on track though. Although it doesn't really seem to be helping me drop any additional lbs this time around. I'm holding pretty steady between 153 and 154. I'm really okay with this though. As long as I am not gaining weight, how can I be mad?!

I'm pretty excited for this Friday. I am finally getting certified to be a Zumba instructor! I can't wait to start teaching. It is going to be a long day of learning the basics, but I am really looking forward to it. I have been thinking about doing this for a while and finally decided to go for it. I figure why not get paid to workout?!

That's all I have for today's Weigh-In Wednesday. Thanks for stopping by and hope you guys did just as well with any fitness goals that you were trying to accomplish this week!

Five on Friday

Happy Friday!!! For only having to work four days this week, it sure did feel like it took forever for Friday to get here. Anyone else have that same feeling? Let's get to some Five on Friday.

1-It's Leg Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so excited for my session with my trainer tonight. We are going to max out on my squats and I am seriously hoping that I can hit over 200 lbs! I'm ready to go beast mode!

2-They are calling for us to get 20"+ of snow over the next few days and I am struggling to believe it. I love the snow and I seriously hope that it does happen, but usually when they call for a big storm, we get nothing. One thing is for sure, my ass is getting my grocery shopping done tonight instead of tomorrow when it is supposed to start hitting us.

3-Last weekend the Hubs decided that he didn't want his new Fitbit ChargeHR anymore. He realized that tracking his calories and all of that fun stuff really isn't that important to him. So guess who got a two week old ChargeHR?! Yep, me!! I freaking love it. It is so much better than my Flex and I love that it has a display on it so I am not constantly having to check my stats on my phone.

4-Ed Sheerhan tickets go on pre-sale on Monday for his show at Red Rocks this summer and I have decided that I need to go. I love listening to that boy sing. And seeing him live would be freaking amazeballs! Here's to hoping that the tickets aren't too expensive!

5-It's carb day!!!!!!!!! I always forget how much I love carbs until I go 10 days with very few of them. I have already had way too many today probably, but it's my one day where I get them, so I'm not going to feel sorry about it. Nope, not even for the delicious Red Velvet Oreo Truffle I just ate a few minutes ago. Worth it!!!

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Weigh-In Wednesday

Happy Hump Day everyone!

It's Wednesday and I have decided that I definitely want to keep up with my Weigh-In Wednesday posts. Even though I am at a point where I only have another 5 lbs or so to lose, I think it really does help hold me accountable. And I need that right now.

For the last eight days I have been doing ketosis again. For those that don't know what that is, it is a low carb cycle diet. So lots of protein, good fats and only 35 g of net carbs.  I am on day nine right now of 10 and I am doing really well with it actually. It has helped to get me back on track with my eating and I have felt amazing these past two weeks. It's crazy how much the way you are eating can affect your mood and just how you feel in your own body overall. Friday I will get to carb up and then Saturday I will go back to doing the ketosis again for seven days. I am trying to lose those last few lbs and this seems to be the only thing that helps jump start my weight loss once I have hit a plateau.

My workouts have been pretty consistent. I am in such a great routine now and I love it. I am still lifting three to four times a week. I am attending Zumba at least twice a week and then I usually have one day that I either use as a rest day (which almost never happens) or I go hiking or something of that nature. And here soon I will be starting Spring softball, so that will consume my Wednesday nights. I'm really looking forward to it actually.

Currently I am sitting at 153 lbs. So I am technically up 3 lbs from my lowest weight, but considering I hit that weight when I was dog sick with a 24 hour flu bug and couldn't hold anything down except water and Gatorade, I am pretty okay with only being up 3 lbs. My ultimate goal is to be around 145-147, so that when my weight fluctuates from time to time I will still be right around 150. I'm hoping the ketosis will do it's thing and I will get there with this next seven day cycle.

One more thing for you today. I wanted to share something incredibly awesome that happened yesterday. I wrote yesterday about how I hit 185 lbs on my squats on my own on Saturday. I have been completely stoked about this ever since it happened. Well yesterday I was leaving my Zumba class when I got a text message from my personal trainer. In this text he was telling me about how one of his clients that day was telling him about how she watched a girl squat 185 lbs with perfect form at the gym on Saturday morning. And then she told him that after that she started doing lunges with 40 lb dumbbells like a beast. After hearing this and knowing what gym both of us go to, my trainer laughed a little bit and said "Yep, that's Megan!" This lady had seen me working out on Saturday and was very impressed by what I was capable of.

I was blown away. After reading the text I got the biggest smile on my face. It's one thing to know how hard you work and what you are capable of and be proud of it. But when someone else notices how hard you are working and what you are capable of and are genuinely impressed, it is an awesome feeling!  And one that has totally made my week!

Weekend Recap

Happy Tuesday everyone! Today is technically my Monday. Because of President's Day yesterday, my office was closed so I had a glorious three day weekend! It came and went too quickly though as usual.

Friday I left work around 3:30 and headed home to take the dogs on a walk. It was pretty nice out so I wanted to make sure that they got out of the house for a bit. After a good half hour long walk, I headed to my trainers studio for our weekly session. He kicked my ass once again. We did back and holy crap was I feeling it afterwards. Definitely felt it the next few days as well. After that I headed home and made dinner and did laundry and cleaned the rest of the night. Exciting, I know!

Saturday I got up early and went to the gym. It was leg day and I love leg day. I hit a personal best on squats and was completely stoked about it! 185 lbs on my own for a full set of 8 with no spot!!  Still pretty excited about this. It set the tone for my whole day.

After the gym I had to go pick up Louie from the groomers where I had dropped him off earlier that morning. He got de-fluffed. He needed it badly though. After picking him up I went to the bank and then headed home for a bit before I had to have my car at the dealership for a routine service. While I was back at the house my SIL and  Brother called and asked if I was home. They said they had a surprise for us. So they stopped by for a few minutes and dropped off this really cool Colorado flag that I have been wanting for a while. I have an amazing family! And I can't wait to get this thing hung up!

After my family left, I took the car in, they did their thing and then I went and did some grocery shopping and then headed home to spend a little bit of time with the Husband.

The Hubs and I don't usually celebrate Valentine's Day and this year was no exception. I'm not a huge fan of it. I think it is way over hyped, over priced and if you need one day a year to make you do something nice for the person you love, then something is wrong. You should want to do something for them all the time. Just saying. So needless to say we didn't have any plans to do any type of celebrating so when my Brother asked if I would watch my Nieces and Nephew I obliged. So I headed over there that evening and we made cookies and watched some movies while they went out to dinner. It was a lot of fun to hang out with them and I always love hearing what they have to say. My favorite thing of the night was my youngest Niece actually saying "I Love You Meme!" My heart melted. It was adorable.

Sunday was a lazy day. The dogs actually let me sleep til about 9:30. I couldn't believe it, but very much appreciated it. Got up and did some dishes and cleaning around the house. Nothing too eventful. Spent my evening on the couch watching Saturday Night Live's 40th Anniversary special with the Husband. It was incredible! I laughed the whole time. And hands down, this was the best part of the show...

Wayne's World! Wayne's World! Party time! Excellent!!!

Monday I got up early on my day off and went to the gym. Yeah, didn't even sleep in. What is wrong with me?! Got a great upper body workout in. Definitely feeling that today! Yikes! Also got a great two hour long hike in with Bentley and one of my friends. It was snowing like crazy the whole time, but it was awesome! Bentley definitely enjoyed it. Also watched a few movies and then ran a few errands with the Hubs once he got home from work. We went and grabbed some dinner at Chick-Fil-A too. Oh! And our new washer was finally delivered yesterday! You know you are an adult when you get excited about a new washer and dryer. Oh and about new towel racks. Yeah, I was excited to get new towel racks. Smh.

It was a good weekend to say the least. Wish it would have been longer. And warmer. The snow moved in on Sunday and it got cold real quick. I knew the really nice warm weather wouldn't stick around for long. It never does this time of year. Oh well, Spring and Summer will be here before we know it and it will be nice all the time! Yay! I can't wait!

Hope you all had a great weekend! And hope that you didn't have to work yesterday too! Have a great Tuesday everyone!

This Week Got Away From Me

I'm not sure how, but this week definitely has gotten away from me. Oh that's right! It's called work. Damn that work keeping me busy and getting in the way. I guess that is part of being an adult, right?!

Few random things for you guys today. First, a friend of mine recommended a movie to me over the weekend so on Monday night I watched it. It's on Netflix and it is called "The Secret." Not going to lie, I wasn't really sure what to expect, but after watching it, I was blown away. It's a great movie that talks about the power of positive thinking. They go into a lot more detail than I obviously just did, but I was so blown away by what it was about that I have decided to try and adopt that type of thinking and apply it to all aspects of my life. Why not? We could all use a bit more positiveness in our lives. So if you have netflix, go watch it!

I don't know if I have even shared this with you guys, but at the end of this month I am signed up to get my Zumba certification so that I can start teaching classes. Well Tuesday night something incredibly awesome happened. The instructor at my gym has been telling me for weeks that if I wanted to I could come up and teach a song or two of my own so that I could get the feel for it and see if I really liked it. So for the last few weeks I have been working on a routine to Meghan Trainor's "All About That Bass" and I was finally ready to teach it to the class. When I arrived to class on Tuesday my instructor informed me that she wasn't going to be able to teach class that night due to some family stuff going on and asked me if I would step in for her and teach the entire class. So I said yes!

She left me her iPod with all of her songs on it which helped a ton. We just did all of our normal songs. I also taught my song. And it seems that it went over really well with everyone! It was an awesome experience and feeling. When the class was done I realized that I definitely loved instructing and I can't wait to actually get my certification so that I can start teaching on a more regular basis. And I am so happy that it happened the way that it did because I didn't have a chance to think about it. I just did it. And I didn't have time to talk myself out of it and get nervous. I'm notorious for that. But this was spontaneous and it was awesome!

I told you guys last week that I got free tickets to an advanced showing of  "The DUFF." Well we went and saw it last night and I freaking loved it. Definitely a chick flick, but hilarious. I would put this one up there with "Easy A" and "Pitch Perfect" as far as how funny it was. Definitely one of my new favorites! And how could I not like it when this guy was in the movie...

Yeah!! Gorgeous! Needless to say I will be buying this one when it comes out. And when it hits theaters, I recommend going and seeing it.

Okay everyone, that is all I have for you today. Good news is that tomorrow is Friday! And I have a three day weekend! Thank you President's Day! If I don't get a chance to stop in tomorrow, I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Weekend Recap

Good Morning everyone!

It's Monday. And I am especially tired after this weekend. But I had a great weekend so I will try not to complain too much.

It was once again a busy one. We started the weekend out by going to dinner at one of our favorite places, Kneaders. We finished up our dinner and then headed out to go bowling with two of our friends. We hadn't been bowling in forever. I can't even remember the last time that we went. But we had a blast. We bowled three games and I won the last one. It also took me til the last game to finally bowl a strike. Spares on the other hand, I was the Queen of those the entire night.

Saturday was hectic. I was up early so that I could try and squeeze everything in that I needed to get done. I went to the gym first and got my workout in. I had to cut it a bit short which sucked, but it happens. I ran to Kohl's to buy us some new sheets because Bentley decided that he wanted to tear a whole in our flat sheet. Thanks Bentley! And then I did all of our grocery shopping for the week before heading home to get ready to head out East.

After a shower, which was much needed after the gym, I made a stop at Starbucks and then headed out East to hang out with my friends. We went to my friends little brothers basketball game, which was super intense! They ended up going into overtime and won by one point with 2.5 seconds left in the game! We were going nuts. It was pretty awesome!

Waiting in the drive through at Starbucks. It was a long line!
After the game we headed back to my friends parents house where we immediately got to work on some food for the ladies night that we were having out there. We made stuffed mushrooms and quite possibly my newest favorite dessert ever. I'm sure some of you have tried the Oreo truffle balls that you make with Oreo's, cream cheese and dipping chocolate. Well I saw the Red Velvet Oreo's at the store this weekend and decided to make them with those instead! Holy crap! They were freaking delicious! Too bad the Oreo's are a limited edition thing. But that is probably also a good thing because I would be eating them way too much if they were around all the time. They are good. Make sure you try them while they are out in stores. You won't be disappointed.

Red Velvet Oreo Truffles! Amazeballs!
We had a great time at Ladies Night. There were a ton of vendors, great food and of course great people! We definitely enjoyed a few glasses of wine too! It was a fun night, but a late one too. I ended up not getting home til 1:30 which normally wouldn't be a huge deal on a Saturday but I had to be up early on Sunday so that made things a whole lot different.

Sunday I was up early again. It was the Hubbs Birthday and I told him that for his Birthday I would let him sleep in as long as he wanted. Which normally would be like 2 or 3 pm. So I told him that I would go hiking and be gone for most of the morning so that I wouldn't be there to wake him up and pester him. He was all on board for this idea. He likes to sleep.

So I got up early and headed over to my friends house so that we could go hiking. We have both been getting pretty bored with our usual spot so we decided to go somewhere else. We headed up to the back side of Pike's Peak to do the Devil's Playground Trail. We were heading up the road to get to the parking lot and there was still quite a bit of snow up there even with the crazy warm weather we have been having. So we got out and locked his 4 wheel drive in to help us get up this road. Well we got about half a mile away from the parking lot and had to stop because there was a car stuck up ahead of us.

My friend being the nice guy that he is got out and helped get this guy out along with a few other people that were already up there too. After about half an hour they got the guy out but then we all had to back down this small road and then we got stuck. So another half hour or so later and we finally got ourselves dug out and up to the parking lot. It was definitely a frustrating start to the morning, but once we got on the trail we didn't care anymore. It was a great hike. It was a long one too. Because of all of the snow it took us a bit longer, but we hiked up to just above the tree line. It was so freaking nice out too. It was a great day for a hike. And I got Bentley out of the house which was an added bonus.

After our hike we headed back into town and Bentley and I went home to spend the rest of the day with the Hubbs. We went out to dinner for his Birthday. I kept asking him where he wanted to go and he couldn't decide. We ended up going to Village Inn of all places. I was kind of surprised by this, but he wanted some pancakes so it worked out. After dinner we headed home and he watched the Walking Dead and I took a bath and then started watching the Grammy's. I didn't even make it all the way through til the end of the show. I fell asleep with about 45 minutes left. Oops! What can I say? I was spent after the day I had.

It was a great weekend. And it was gorgeous out. Like 60+ degrees. I think it actually got into the 70's on Saturday.  I will take it though. Hopefully it sticks around for a while. I mean I already have some color on my face and arms and it is only the second week of February. Yeah, I'm pretty excited about that.

Hope you all had a great weekend as well. Thanks for stopping in today!

Throw Back Thursday Blog Style

I was reading through some old posts of mine and stumbled across these two posts from November of 2013 and was just floored by how much progress I have made since then. So I thought it would be fun to share them again.

Going back and reading these and knowing how much I have accomplished since then just makes me happy. I knew when I wrote those that the whole weight loss thing felt different this time around, but I don't think that I could have even predicted how everything has worked out since then. It's pretty cool to see. And this is why I blog. To document things. It's really cool to be able to go back and see what I was thinking or feeling at an exact moment in time.

This first post is from November 7th of 2013. You can read that one here

The second post is from November 12th of 2013. And you can read that one here

Thanks for stopping by everyone. Hope you are having a great Thursday!

Free Movie Tickets?! Yes Please!

I got an email from Cinemark yesterday informing me that they were holding a special free screening of a movie called "The DUFF" on February 11th and that I had been selected to receive free tickets. Umm...yes please!

Who doesn't love free stuff?! And to top it off, I saw a preview for this movie a couple of months ago and thought that it looked hilarious and couldn't wait to see it. So now, not only do I get to see it for free, but I get to see an early screening of it! I'm pretty stoked!

If you haven't seen the preview for this movie, check it out below. It looks really funny and could easily become one of my favorite chick flicks. Yes, it is a chick flick.

Remember Me?!!

My last post was on November 6th. That was almost three months ago?! Where has the time gone?!

Sorry for being gone for so long. I can't seem to find time to sit down and blog as regularly as I used to. Between family, friends, making time for the gym and a whole host of other things, my blogging has taken a back seat unfortunately. And I don't even have kids as an excuse. So mad props to all of you blogging Mama's out there. I don't know how you do it.

A lot has happened in the last three months. And I mean a lot! Where do I even begin?!

November was crazy. It started with my Brother-In-Law's wedding in Missouri. We got to spend some time with my Husband's side of the family which was great. And I got to dance with this adorable Nephew of mine.

I ran in my first Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving and broke underneath the 30 minute mark by almost three minutes! And of course there was three different Thanksgiving meals, a surprise visit from my Mama and a ton of studying for my PHR exam.

December was possibly crazier than November. It started off with me cramming like a crazy person for my PHR test that was on the 5th. Hours and hours of studying and a few panic attacks later, I took and PASSED my exam. Whoop whoop!!!

Then of course there was my Birthday! Who could forget that?! Ran in the Jingle Bell 5k and beat my Turkey trot time by almost a full minute even after being sick. But I'm not bragging or anything.

And then of course came Christmas which is always crazy but amazing. We got to spend some great time with our families. And my Sister and her Husband were able to make it home from Minnesota too.

I also got to meet up with a few friends from High School that I haven't seen since I graduated nine years ago. It was great to see them and we had a good time catching up.

And then to top off a great year, I ended it by going to a Denver Broncos game with a really good friend of mine. The Hubby didn't want to go, but wanted me to go and so he bough me tickets for my Birthday/Christmas/Anniversary present. It was the last home game of the regular season. We froze our asses off, but it was a great game and it was worth it. Too bad they couldn't pull it together to make it out of the second round of the playoffs!

January was pretty crazy too. I started the year off with a beautiful snow filled hike through one of my favorite places.

We celebrated our three year wedding anniversary at the beginning of the month. Three years?! Already?! I feel like we just got married! Work has been insane. But that is normal for us this time of year. Oh the joys of being an Accountant. We had a great date night out to see the hilarious Chris Hardwick. We also decided to do our first no spend month (with a few exceptions for already planned things) and it was a huge eye opener to us. We are definitely going to be trying to do that more often.

And here we are now. In February. Holy crap. This year is already flying by. And with so much already planned for the upcoming months, I know it is going to be crazy. I am going to try my best to get back on here and blog more. I really do miss it. I just need to start making time for it. Like I do for the gym. I swear I live there. But yes, I am going to make an honest effort to try and make more time for blogging.

Thanks for putting up with my absence. Hope to be around more often!
