DIY Headboard Inspiration

Recently I have had this itch to do some updating to our bedroom. I go through this all the time. I get bored with the placement of the furniture or the color of our bedding. I like to change things up all the time. Is that so bad? Nah! I don't think so anyways.

Our master bedroom is one room where I am itching to change things up big time. We never really finished decorating our room since we have moved into our house, so I would really like to finish it. Ya know, get some pictures up on the wall, make it look like we actually live there. Stuff like that.

One piece that our room is really missing is a headboard. We have talked about buying a new bedroom set, but we can never really find anything that we like. Everything is too modern for our taste. We very much like the vintage look. Which is something that is very easy to create too.

So I of course went to Pinterest to find some vintage headboard inspiration. I mean duh! Where else would I go to look for DIY inspiration?!

I found quite a few different headboards that I absolutely loved. Some were completely outrageous as far as a DIY project is concerned, but others were definitely more attainable projects. Here are a few of those.

I absolutely love this one. I love the vintage look. And I love all of the frames on the top as additional decor. This one is probably the one that would be the easiest to make on my own. I would just have to find the right headboard.

This fireplace mantle as a headboard is absolutely gorgeous. If I can figure out how to do this, I would love to create something beautiful like this for our room. My only concern is whether or not I would be able to find an old fire place mantle big enough to be a headboard for a queen size bed. I am sure that I could figure out the rest though if I could find the mantle.

This last one is really cute and very simple. I could easily do this by finding these old windows at the Habitat for Humanity Restore. My only concern with this one is that it isn't really a headboard and would act more as piece of art. And I would worry about them falling on us and busting in the middle of the night. Our kitties after all love to try and knock things off the wall.

These headboards are all beautiful and gorgeous in their own vintage way, which is why I absolutely love them. I am hoping that I can find something that works for our space that I can turn into a beautiful vintage looking piece.

  1. Looooove rustic headboards. There are tons of DIY tutorials and different things out there to use. I want to try this too since we have a platform bed with drawers underneath.
