Country Jam Day 1

Almost two weeks ago, I made a five and a half hour trek down to Grand Junction, CO to spend a few days with my friend Nikki at Country Jam, which is a four day country music festival.

The morning of the first day we made our way to the grocery store and to the liquor store to get the essentials to pack in our cooler. Once we had that done, we packed up the rest of our stuff, loaded up the truck and headed to the Country Jam grounds. Once we were there, we parked, lathered ourselves in sunscreen and headed inside to find our seats.

Once we found our seats, we just sat down and relaxed for a little bit before one of the first acts came out. The first act that we were there to see was a band called Parmalee. They actually have a song on country radio right now that is doing really well. It's called "Carolina". They were really good. I really liked them and I can't wait for their album to come out.

After Parmalee, we decided to walk around for a bit and just check out some of the vendors and tents that were set up. And we also had to go check in for the Lee Brice show since Nikki won us tickets for the Best Seats in the House for his show. So once we checked in, we headed to our seats. We were right in front of the stage. They were not joking when they said they were the best seats in the house!

Lee Brice was absolutely amazing! He sings with so much emotion. It was definitely a great show and I am so thankful that Nikki decided to put her name in that box at Pizza Hut on a random Friday night while picking up pizza for her family, haha! They were such great seats. They actually kind of spoiled us though, because after his show, we had to go back to our normal seats which were not so great. Oh well, it was still an awesome experience.

After Lee Brice we went back to our seats and joined some of Nikki's friends for the last show of the night which was Montgomery Gentry. Even though I couldn't see the stage, I was able to see the jumbo tron and from what I could see they were pretty freaking amazing! They had so much energy and we just had a good time dancing and singing along to all of their songs.

Once their show was over, we headed out to the parking lot where we sat in the back of the truck and just hung out and ate some food for a little while. We decided to wait till all of the traffic cleared before we even attempted to leave. Which worked out great. And we made a new friend, who came up to our truck to hide from his friends who were trying to get into his vehicle but couldn't because he had the keys. So he hung out with us for a few minutes and enjoyed some Ruffles and cookies with us and watched as his friends stood at his truck trying to figure out how to get in and trying to figure out where he was. It was pretty hilarious.

I quickly realized that one of my favorite things about Country Jam was the people watching! Oh my gosh it was hilarious! And little did I know that it would just get better as the weekend went on and people got more and more drunk.

And my least favorite thing would have to be how gross my feet were after the 1st day. With as much sunscreen as I put on and all the dirt, my feet were disgusting. At first you almost couldn't tell whether I had a tan line or if it was dirt, but at the end of the day, you could definitely tell it was dirt. Eww!

Well, that was Day 1 in a nutshell. I am going to try and have Day 2 up tomorrow, which was probably one of my favorite days of the whole weekend! So be sure to check back tomorrow to see what Day 2 had in store for us!
