Updates Galore

The past six days have flown by and I didn't realize how much I was slacking on posting until today. Sorry again! Things have been crazy once again and especially with work. Lets just say on a normal day at work I cut about 30 checks and today I did over 200!!! Yikes! I am exhausted and my brain is fried so hopefully I can put some words into sentences and make this post readable for you guys.

The one on left holding the hair dryer =work!

Last Thursday I had my first fitting. It went really well. They custom made my cap sleeves and they are exactly how I envisioned them. They are perfect. I can't wait to see them actually sewn into the dress and not just pinned on. I chose to have them sewn in so that they would be sturdier. This means that those babies aren't coming off the whole night unless I cut them out and that is NOT going to happen. Unfortunately I didn't get a very good picture of the cap sleeves. And the only pictures I did get were of me in the dress and I don't want to put those up anywhere just in case a certain fiance decides to actually read this blog for once. That would be my luck.

Other than the cap sleeves, the only other alterations I need are to get my train bustled which is costing about $80 and then they are taking in the top just a smidgen so the girls don't decide to make their debut during the wedding at any point and also there was a tear on the back of my train in the tulle and so they are going to fix that too. I don't know how that got there, but I think someone stepped on the dress and ripped it. I'm not too worried about it though. The lady said that they could fix it and you wouldn't be able to tell and not only that but when it is bustled, you won't even see it. So total my alterations only cost me $170. I was way excited!

We did manage to get a few things done for the wedding this weekend. Saturday I went and got a haircut so that my hair will hopefully be back to the length that I want it for the wedding. Well, we were a little early for this appointment so we went to the Goodwill that was near the hair salon and we finally found a picture frame that we liked for our photo booth sign. It is a pretty cool frame, and the picture in it is pretty ugly so it was perfect. Yesterday I bought some sand paper and we are working on sanding off all of the paint that is already on it. This way we can paint it a bright color. We were going to take the picture and the glass out and then paint the glass with chalkboard spray paint to turn it into a chalkboard, but the back of the frame is covered. It doesn't have the little turney things that make the back pop open so we are going to have to tape the glass off and then paint the frame and then after that is dry we are going to have to tape the frame off and paint the glass. I can't wait to see how it turns out. The picture below is what I hope it looks like when we are finished. Except much bigger

I also received our custom stamp in the mail from Stamp Out Online, a shop on Etsy. I ordered this stamp for our favor boxes. It looks amazing. I can't wait to see it all put together on the actual boxes.

And I FINALLY received the rest of the tote bags that I ordered. It only took them two months to get all of them to me. And thankfully the company refunded me the shipping on them too since it took so long to get them. So now I am working on sprucing those up with some fun fabric flowers and ribbon. I am trying to figure out an easy way to put their initials or their names on the bag so that they don't get them confused. Any suggestions?

It was a pretty productive weekend and we are trying to make it a productive week. Our goal is to try and get all of the DIY projects done by the weekend of Thanksgiving so that all that we have to do as far as projects go in December are our programs and possibly some menu cards. That one is still up in the air as to whether or not to do them.

So, that in a nutshell is the past 6 days. We are still working on finishing up the few projects mentioned here. I am hoping to have at least two of them done by this weekend. Fingers crossed!

Did you try to finish all of your DIY projects pretty far in advance? Or did it come down to the wire?

  2. My my my, you sound really busy girly. So glad you're getting stuff done! I can't wait to see your dress. And how the picture frame turns out! Glad you finally got your tote bags, I wouldn't be too happy if they took two months to gethere... Which means I'll probably order my bridesmaids stuff pretty early too, because this would be my luck as well. I absolutely love your stamp!

Hope you have an awesome day!
